Follow the road onwards, looking at fine properties to right and left, including St George’s Chapel. When Castel Bertrand is reached, look straight ahead to catch a glimpse of Castello Tas-Sultan, but as this is private, turn right to have a look at the Palazzo Promontorio, which can be approached more closely. Afterwards, retrace steps along the road to Castello Dei Baroni and turn right.

Follow the road straight through Busewdien, all the way back to the small roadside shrine that was passed earlier. Walk past it again, then shortly afterwards, turn left down a concrete road. Follow the road across the head of the Wied Qannotta valley and turn left. There might be a huge muddy puddle to negotiate, then pass St Mary’s Fireworks Factory and keep straight ahead as the track becomes gravel.

Pass round a clay pigeon range used by the Malta Shooting Federation and follow a road onwards, called Triq is-Sagra Familja. Turn left along a track and pass newly constructed walls and stabling. Turn right up a narrow road until Triq il-Bdiewa reaches a junction with Triq Tal-Milord in the little village of Bidnija. Turn left to pass between a fine little chapel and the Hilltop Self Service shop. Follow the road faithfully, passing Ras Riħana and avoiding a turning for ‘The Funny Farm’.

The tarmac finally expires at a house called Ta’ Catletti. Walk down a rugged track on the left, then keep right. (Keeping left reveals a vague field path leading to a concrete road running down to St Paul’s Chapel and the village of Burmarrad.) A concrete track runs down through fields and runs close to Santa Margerita Chapel before landing on a busy main road at Wied l-Arkata. There are bus stops nearby and plenty of bus services on the road.
